My poor left eye. Two failed laser surgeries, then one hospital surgery to reattach my retina. Silicone oil added to my eye to control the bleeding as I am on blood thinners. But hey… things were looking up. I just had another surgery to remove the oil. Three needles in my eye while fully conscious. But no severe pain.
Two days later, I was puking repeatedly. Almost no vision at all in the eye. And pain. My rock star surgeon met me at his empty office on a Saturday night. I felt bad for ruining his weekend. Then he told me my eye pressure was 65!
I did not even know that was possible. Two needles in the eye right there in the office and my pressure was dropped to the normal range. “You won’t really feel pain from the needle… just pressure,” he assured me. Didn’t tell me the pain would come when he had to squeeze my eyeball to get the fluid out!
So I went home feeling better, until Sunday night. Same symptoms. Same trip to his office. Two more needles. Physically and mentally I was exhausted. An army of drops and meds to keep the pressure down. “I can’t keep puncturing your eye,” when I asked the odds of the meds working. Thankfully, they worked.
My Apple watch told me I slept over eight hours five straight days. A couple nights were over 10 hours. I had never slept eight hours a night two days in a row before.
Body recovering. Sleep. And of course the beach. Always the beach!
