“Why don’t we just call Budget Blinds and have them quote window treatments for our condo?” I asked my wife. “That’s a lot of windows, the cost would be enormous,” my wise wife replied. We had previously had Budget Blinds put some roller shades in the apartment we have occupied the past three years. Spent over $1,000 for two large windows. So how much would new window treatments cost in our new condo? Surely it wouldn’t be too outrageous. So I googled and saw comments saying expect at least $400 per window. Found another story claiming the average per window installed cost being $463. And yes, we are going to want good quality shades that are cord free, and move bottom up and top down. Uh oh!
So how many windows do we have in our new living area that needed shades? I counted twenty-three, plus one glass door. In our little condo. Well, 2400 square foot condo. Crap! I had grossly underestimated the cost of window treatments. It had never really sunk in that we had so many windows. Of the twenty-three windows, three did not need shades at all. But the glass door would. So twenty one window treatments times $463 equals $9,723 !!!
Oops, definitely putting in our own shades. Bali, here we come.
All these windows in our little condo… still amazes me.
