Thus it begins. A foot and an half of snow, lots of it lake effect. More snow on the way. The ice just starting to arrive. With frigid temperatures for the next two weeks, we should see ice mountains, ice volcanoes and all sort of other cool formations.
While in other parts of the country Ground Hog Day might mean the choice between six more weeks of winter or an early spring… here it is different. Six more weeks of winter… or six more months of winter. So it seems. In a week or two, the lighthouse landscape will be so otherworldly the citizens start to wonder if the sun, water and warmth will ever return.
They view the ice landmass as a permanent structure, to be climbed and played on. The ice mountains will be crawling with people. Many walking far out to the newly minted new water’s edge. How can there be any risk, when so many other people are doing it as well? How can there be risk when the sand blows over the ice, making it seem so everlasting? An enduring land mass?
