Since I was 15 years old and received my magical driver’s permit, I carried a wallet. Over the years, it grew thicker and thicker. Piled in pictures, credit cards, debit cards, health insurance, library cards… on and on. And then receipts were smashed in until I’d finally empty them out maybe once a month or so. But at long last… goodbye wallet!
Technically, I still have a wallet… the iPhone Wallet. It magnetically attaches to my iPhone. Only holds three cards. So I slid in my driver’s license, Apple card, and Prime card. While I wave my watch or phone to pay most everything, I still keep the two cards. One for restaurants, and one for a backup in case all else fails. “All else” will most probably never fail. Costco card, debit card, health insurance etc are all loaded into my phone.
Oh, but where to stash my receipts? Well, they land in my phone before I am ever handed a paper receipt. So they are immediately toss-able.
The death of my wallet. Maybe a minor improvement, but I love it. Having used it for many weeks now, I’ll never go back to an old school wallet. One more small step towards simplification and decluttering.
