Coastal Lake Michigan water temperatures have risen to above 80 degrees in many places. And it is only July 8th! Unusually hot humid days, combined with light winds mean great days for swimmers. Crazy warm for July. Storms can bring strong upwelling of cold deep water quickly, but so far, it is looking like a great time to be vacationing along Lake Michigan. Assuming you want to spend much of your days in the water.
Lunch at our favorite outdoor spots can be a little more uncomfortable. Or downright crazy hot. Even with restaurants hanging as much shade as possible, we decided to do a later dinner last night instead… to beat the heat. We weren’t the only ones. Dockers Fish House was busy last night. Had to wait a few minutes for a table. But it was so worth it. Million dollar view and competently cooked seafood combined for another joyful meal.
Afterwards, I popped the drone up in the parking lot to take a few photos. Clouds meant no spectacular sunset when I turned the drone westward, away from the marina, to catch Lake Michigan, the Coast Guard station and Lights. But, any sunset along the lake, is not to be missed.
