My love of storms is not shared by all here on the Lake Michigan coast. An article yesterday about three homeowners spending $500K to battle back against the winds and waves in an effort to save their multi-million dollar homes. We stopped by our favorite beach today and all looked well from the sand covered parking lot.
But past the last snow fence, something was missing… sand… gone… about seven feet high worth and extending out into the water. Where once was a gentle drop into the water is now a sand cliff.
Looking further up the coast, stretches of beach are… missing.
The dunes will do what they will. Yes, the gales of November have come early again. Winter will be fascinating.
Meanwhile, the beach remains beautiful as always.
