A blizzard rages 75 miles north. But not for us. We have been spared the snow this time, so today we enjoyed our beach. Wind and waves. Ice hills and lighthouse visible without the wind-born blinding white.
Someone with the State of Michigan made the extremely popular decision to keep the gates open, and road plowed, thru the state park camping area this year. Everyone is able to drive right in, park along the beach and enjoy the show… all without leaving the warmth and safety of their cars.
Of course some hardy souls climb the dune for the best photos. And even a more foolish soul on a fat tired bicycle.
And then there were the people still out on the ice, somehow happily being pummeled by the icy spray from the crashing waves.
The view from the north shore beach, looking back at the lighthouse in the distance was also impressive.
Another day at the beach. Ten months in. We made the right choice.
