Sunny, 80 degrees every day. The perfect life at the perfect beach. For some. For me, I call it terrarium living. Predictable. Boring.
Imagine establishing a colony on Mars. You could have one huge dome to keep your sanity and feel like you are on Earth… in nature. Inside that dome you could have one lake, a faux sea. And you could pick the weather under the dome. First instinct would be sunny and 80 every day. For a few weeks, that might be great. But over the long haul, I think it would drive people insane.
Being able to choose the weather under that dome… I would choose a four season climate. Going further, I would make it variable, unpredictable … link it to the actual weather at a spot on earth. My spot would be Grand Haven, Michigan.
Here I am at the beach again today. Not sunny and 80 degrees. So much better! December 27th, 40 degrees and raining hard. No ice yet in sight. But some years it would be.
No terrarium living for us!
