Far and away, 2018 has been the best year ever. Yet the one thing missing, always on my mind, has been the book. We have been enjoying life to the maximum in Michigan. But while doing so, my wife completed seventeen “yarn projects”, and has three more underway. Me? I have been getting ready. Reading books. Reading fiction for the first time in years. Changing my mindset, growing, becoming more ready. Shaking off the last vestiges of a life far too narrowed.
This last week… progress! I learned Scrivener (my choice of writing software). I moved my notes and brief chapter outlines over to Scrivener. Then, finally, I began writing for real. Felt fantastic! First critical scenes completed. And ready to power forward and chew thru chapter after chapter.
The I put it away for two days. And worry set in. What if when I came back and read it, I no longer loved it? It doesn’t matter if anyone else loves it. But if I don’t… it matters. Thankfully, after making a half-dozen tweaks… I still love it.
Bring on the snow, give us a hundred inches or more! And I will be finished before Spring starts to slowly creep in.
