The sunsets continue to move rapidly further and further south. In September, the sun would have been out of the picture above to the right. Now the sun is off far to the left. Tomorrow we will move north, across the Grand River to put the sunsets back in the light house snaps.
Besides writing, and exploring many new authors, I now have the time to enjoy music like I never have before. Here we have so many opportunities for live music performed by excellent local artists in intimate venues. Last night a solo performer was asking for requests. Whenever I get the chance, I go for something no one else would think of…. I suggested Runaway by Del Shannon. After the musician noted that Del Shannon (born Charles Weedon Westover) grew up very close by, he performed an excellent rendition. They really know their music here.
Next time, I am going to ask for some Leonard Cohen and see what happens. I had never heard of him before this week (or so I thought), when I discovered him thru Lana Del Ray. Yes, I have been a little obsessed with her music recently. Anyway, I did not realize Leonard Cohen wrote Hallelujah, Suzanne and a lot of other exceptional songs. He died at age 82, just two years ago, right after releasing his final album. Here is a beautiful music video I discovered just today, performed when he was 76… a different type of sunset.
