New iPhone day…. or… should I say “new pocket supercomputer, with attached photo studio, mobile gaming platform and augmented reality machine”. Now that sounds so much better and worthy of the price.
We had skipped last year’s iPhone X so we moved from 7s Plus’s to Xs Max’s (pronounced Tennis Max). So far, we are (at least I am)… amazed. No regrets, huge improvements over the 7s Plus.
Just had to run to the beach to try out the new camera. Surf is up again today. After a few shots we moved across the river to the fisherman’s pier. As my wife followed me along the board walk, we saw waves crashing over the pier. No, we were not stupid enough to walk out onto it.
But while still on the boardwalk I noticed that besides the walkway being very wet, the cement seating area along the walk was also soaking wet. As my brain slowly contemplated that information, along came a rogue wave hitting us with fast-moving, knee-high water. As we beat a hasty retreat, another even larger wave landed. Not quite enough to sweep us off our feet, and even if it did, there was a metal railing that probably still would have stopped us from being deposited into the raging river.
So, three unexpected lessons learned today:
- The new iPhone water proofing is a very good feature
- Be very careful when Lake Michigan roars
- My wife learned she had best not trust that I knew what I was doing and follow me
