I’ve been reading this book, about the scientifically proven positive effects of water on the mind. Intuitively, I believe most people know it, and standing on the shore of Lake Michigan, over and over again… we truly feel it. I paid $11 for the book on Amazon, but a decent online review is free… and worth the read.
“Water makes your mind smile”. Being around water actually reshapes your brain, heals the brain, and improves mental health. On the other hand, the stress of Red Mind also reshapes, as does Gray Mind.
I remember back to my days right out of college, on my first job, on GE’s Financial Management Program. I was located in Holland, Michigan… also right on the beach. Interesting thing about the plant salaried demographics was how almost everyone was about the same age…. in their 50’s. I was told the when the plant was built, they were young, and refused to move, so aged with the plant. I thought it was silly for people to squander opportunities in other parts of the company to stay in Holland. But I understand now. How beneficial it was to be able to leave the stress of work every day and go to the beach, listen to the waves, watch the sunset.
This morning, we were at yet another beach… a little south of Grand Haven… getting our Blue Mind on.
And then there was our usual beach, a couple of nights ago. Sunsets are always different, always special.
