The latest survey with wide media coverage says 49% of Californians would consider leaving the state due to the high cost of living. Back when we lived in Oregon, there was a lot of resentment directed at Californians fleeing to live in Oregon. Unofficial social media campaigns pushed to paint Oregon in a poor light. Unsuccessfully… Californians still stream across the border to Oregon, and also to Texas, Arizona, Washington and Nevada.
Personally, I highly favor “the other west coast” of western Michigan over California, Oregon or Washington. It may be fortunate for us, that California is so far away, too far for it to be a first choice when fleeing.
