It was just another day in South Carolina
Years ago, my wife was dropping off the kids at parochial school in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The teacher opened the car door, “We missed y’all yesterday!”
My wife quizzically answered, “But yesterday was Memorial Day?”
“Oh, that is a Yankee holiday, we had school of course.”
I imagine by now they close schools for the holiday down there, though I do see they still celebrate Confederate Memorial Day earlier in May.
Old wounds heal slowly, but eventually they do heal. Hope your Memorial day is a pleasant and meaningful.
Wow! Would have never thought. Loving your stories.
Thanks Terri, I am getting a flood of spam messages lately, nice to have a real one!
