There we were, lost on a Michigan back road, trying to find another secret beach, a beach party about to start. At a four-way stop, surrounded by woods. Twilight, no road signs, no buildings, before iPhones. My new…..wife and I. It was so how hard to say “wife” back then. Girlfriend was easy to say. So…

T -155 Days: Naturespace
Naturespace is the app I use almost every night to go to sleep. I pop in my AirPods and dial-up a thunderstorm. The “holographic audio” carries my mind away slowly and surely. Lately, I have been switching to one of the many wave recordings… perfect for Michigan dreams.
T -156 Days: Monday delight?
Sundays mean another long workweek about to begin. What is your best day of the week? Friday? Saturday? And your worst? Monday? I find one delight in Mondays now… another week down in the countdown… 22 to go! And then, the day of the week will no longer matter.
T -157 Days: Another sunset
Just got the Christmas lights on outside… for the last season. Won’t have them next year, but will have this lighting things up on Michigan’s Sunset Coast.
T -160 Days: Freedom
Getting closer! One fifth of the way there since the countdown started… soon 1/4, then 1/3, then 1/2… and the last 100 days. So ready to go now, yet so much to do before we leave. The days seem to last forever, the evenings slip away so fast. Freedom. With the coming first buds of…

Then I get the, “Oh, I thought you’d…
T -164 Days: Purdue win, Iowa loss
Family, food, fun, football… it was a beautiful day. Oldest son and his family visiting for the weekend, visited our favorite restaurant, played the latest Mario … and the icing on the cake was my Boilermakers knocking off Iowa.
T -165 Days: Choices
“Do you get so busy with life you forget about your own health, your own creativity, your own ability to change and better the world? Remember: if you are not making the choices in your life, someone else is – and the results won’t be good. You need to choose yourself.” — James Altucher Yes,…
T -168 Days: Gratitude
Good news! Out of the hospital! Today’s word = gratitude. Don’t waste a second of your life on yesterday. Be grateful for what you have now… the benefits are immediate. Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others. — Marcus Tullius Cicero
