Today, finally… food freedom in Michigan. The governor allowed restaurants to open at 25% capacity. Restaurant owners are grumbling (rightfully) at the 25%, but I actually think it is reasonable until more are vaccinated. Take a look at the article in the Wall Street Journal. The NFL findings are scary if you are at risk and eating at a restaurant. The NFL discovered that the virus still spread indoors in spite of social distancing and less than 15 minutes of close contact. Documented and proven, six feet of social distancing and less than 15 minutes of contact… and the virus still spreads if you are indoors.
All those people who will now walk into restaurants masked up, then sit down, take their masks off and eat are still at risk, even socially distanced. Fine for the young and healthy. But for older, higher risk people like us… it should be a real concern. Fortunately, we found a fabulous place with excellent food, high ceilings and tons of space. By eating after 1pm on a weekday, we were able to enjoy an extremely low risk, high reward meal. TED’S is always willing to let us eat in the empty (or nearly empty) main dining room, while everyone else is on the bar side. No other customer within 60 feet of us today.
Oh, and then of course, over to the beach.
