We are free again! Well, ok, we really never stopped being free. The virus just made for minor inconveniences… and locked us out of our favorite restaurants. Yes, that was our biggest suffering. Does that make us selfish? Does that make us evil? Because we were spared participation in the pandemic of fear and agony? We do have sympathy for those who suffered and are still suffering. But if someone’s house burns down, are you obligated to burn yours down too? To share the pain?
Fortunate, we are.
Most people have been sheltering in place. We have ventured to the beach almost every day.
But now, the restaurants are reopening. We have been eating out every day since they did. Our pent-up demand. We remain careful. Choosing to eat risk free outside. Or, the slight risk of indoor dining with very high ceilings and few people inside.
Today we finally ventured to our favorite place… The Deck. Outside, a soft gentle breeze, a million dollar view, and ten dollar-ish meals. Beach volleyball is back. Sailing is back. The swimmers have returned. And there we were, soaking it all up. Even launched my drone for a quick aerial view.
I can’t say that the experience de-stressed us. Our stress level has remained incredibly low during the pandemic. But I can say, your personal stress will melt away if you come out and play… and eat. Breather deep, breathe free.
