Yes, people are suffering and dying. New York City hospitals are now horrific. In this state, Detroit is fast approaching critical status. But in most of the country, it is much less so. No one wants to see their community approach New York status. The warnings are appropriate. Take social distancing seriously. Deadly serious business. The virus is no joke.
Some people in our community are still letting neighborhood kids play together. How incredibly stupid can you be! Now, if one member of a household gets the virus, the entire neighborhood could become infected. Thru the kids.
My daughter, her husband and baby recently moved back here from California. We have now not seen them for over a week, even tho they live very, very close. And we won’t see them until at least 15 days has expired… since last we were all in public.
Meanwhile, other people in this community are in total panic. Anxiety thru the roof. Barricaded in their homes. Driven to crazed behavior. Yes, Ann Frank lived in a 450 square foot attic for 761 days. So you can too! Uh… no. We are not living in Nazi Germany. Nor have nuclear weapons exploded nearby. The air is not radioactive. Not poisoned.
So, take long, slow, deep breaths. Un-barricade. Nature is your friend. Go for a walk. Go for a run or cycle. Even better, get to the beach. Listen to the waves. Just stay away from others. Breath. Relax.
We still go to the beach every day. Safely. Sanely.
