A beautiful sunny day in Michigan. Perfect for a little road trip north. Today we headed for Little Sable Point Lighthouse… less than an hour north. Only a handful of people visiting. Perfect in the days of social distancing. In Michigan, near solitude with beautiful views is easy. Especially before the tourists arrive.
Shilo, our golden retriever puppy, happily investigated a new sand dune. Out came my DJI Mavic Mini drone. Fantastic to take photos from different views unavailable on the ground.
Later, we stopped by Silver Lake and gazed at the house that continues to be threatened by a huge encroaching dune. How many more seasons does the cottage have left? The dune is building higher in the backyard. Silver Lake itself is filling with sand. Completely cut off from Lake Michigan. Becoming smaller and smaller. And more shallow.
Perhaps how most people in the world feel today. Closed in. Lives disrupted. But soon… summer will come.
Fabulous pictures of Little Sable. I had no idea it was so close to Grand Haven/Spring Lake. I want to go this summer, but understand it won’t be nearly as peaceful and free then (i.e., tourists) as it is now. As for the cottage-eating dune? Right out of a horror movie!
