Since Bob Dylan first performed Mozambique, I was hooked on the magic. I just wish someone out there performed a decent cover of the song. Innumerable Dylan song covers have blossomed into mega hits. Why not this one? The lyrics, guitar work, violin… and a soothing voice would capture the enchantment and transport us to the sand and sea.
Gazing out from our favorite beach today, the relaxation engulfed me. A light breeze, 85 degrees, another day soaking in the magic of a magical land. I’ll never voyage to Mozambique. Maybe no one will be inspired to morph Mozambique into the masterpiece it was meant to be. A gift to the world, three minutes of paradise. But I don’t mind too much. I have Grand Haven. An endless summer, where even in the middle of the crush of tourists you can always find your perfect spot.
The sunny sky is aqua blue
And all the couples dancing cheek to cheek
It’s very nice to stay a week or two
And maybe fall in love just me and you
And plenty time for good romance
And everybody likes to stop and speak
To give the special one you seek a chance
Or maybe say hello with just a glance
Reaching out and touching her hand
Whispering your secret emotion
Magic in a magical land
To say goodbye to sand and sea
You turn around to take a final peek
And you see why it’s so unique to be
Among the lovely people living free
Upon the beach of sunny Mozambique
