“Sitting in an English garden
Waiting for the sun
If the sun don’t come you get a tan
From standing in the English rain”
Those Beatles lyrics popped into my head as we sat on the beach yesterday. On one side of the dunes, bright sunshine. Only a few hundred feet away, approaching the lake, deep fog. Perhaps for most, fog conjures up feelings of past pain, present anxiety of sight deprived, worry for an unknown future.
But there is beauty in the fog. Nature’s caesura… a strategic pause. Summer sunlight only feet away, only moments away. People sitting on the shore, waiting for the sunlight certain to come by and by. Time to breathe, time to think, enjoy the brief respite of coolness.
Here is to hoping you enjoy the warm summer sun, and the occasional mist. Everyone needs that strategic pause in their lives.
