We were planning our first trip to the Upper Peninsula, then noticed Marquette is in a Winter Storm warning… expecting up to a foot of snow. Rapid City, South Dakota is in a Blizzard Warning. A big late winter storm moving across the tip-top of the country. Still planning our trip, but delaying it for the snow to melt.
Meanwhile, we enjoyed the sun here today. First stop was to be Pronto Pups
Pronto Pups is a required stop if visiting Grand Haven… assuming they have opened for the season. Delightfully, they opened this weekend. Not much bigger than the outside of a TARDIS (Doctor Who police box), and a menu of simplicity. What most would call a corn dog, are fried hot dogs on a stick. You can have them plain, with ketchup, with mustard, or both. That’s it. Oh, you can also get a soda. Getting just one would be a rookie move. Three, four or more can be captured between finger knuckles. The taste really is better than a traditional corn dog. But a lot of it is a celebration that you are in Grand Haven, in season, and enjoying a traditional and simple thrill. Unfortunately, the line was long. Thirty plus, on a Monday.
We passed on pups, enjoyed the boardwalk heading out to the lighthouse.
Another beautiful Spring day on the beach, then we were off to Sandy Point Beach House Restaurant. A fantastic lunch, then cruising down the lakeshore to Tunnel Park.
All familiar sights, but such fun. Fun that can be repeated many times without getting old. While still itching to hit the road… so much awaits us for the first time… just hours north.
