After midnight last night, we finished watching the Kansas City Royals snatch defeat from the warm gentle, grasp of another almost victory… the bullpen is going to do that regularly. I slept in this morning. Something I have done too regularly this winter. Walking out to our living room about 10:30am, my wife seemed a bit grumpy. When I pressed, I got back, “It is sunny and warmer outside and we are still inside!”
Off to the beach we went. Expectations have been reset. We are to be heading to a beach by 9:00am. No more sleeping in while the sun shines. Looks like I won’t be watching the Royals in the late innings when they are on the West Coast. Probably a good thing.
Out on the fishermen’s pier, we found remnants of ice along the shore but the bright sun and light winds made for a pleasant visit.
Swinging over to our favorite beach, we parked almost on the sand, reclined the seats, rolled down a window and enjoyed a warm interlude of sound and sight. Soon the snow fence will be removed, the sand smoothed, the beach ready. “It’s a wonderful life!”
