Give me thunder and lightning, rain in sheets. Give me hailstones, the bigger the better. Even give me the Oregon style hail that is really just big, soft snowballs.
Give me high winds across the lake producing massive waves. Crash the piers, pound the lighthouses. Bigger is always better.
Give me funnel clouds in the sky, just not touching down. Give me those dust devils forming in the Nevada desert. Five or six at a time, or more on the horizon. Give me one I can drive thru and shake the car, just enough to feel the power.
Give me St Louis style ice storms coating everything in an inch of skater-able ice, pruning the weak limbs of trees, and some strong ones.
Give me snowstorms of a foot or more. Add in high winds to make it look like we are on another planet. Impossible drifts, house high drifts. Then another foot, and another.
Give me ice building on the lake. Strange shapes, huge icebergs, ice volcanos.
I have always loved a good storm.
Just haven’t had a good one here yet this winter in Grand Haven. Instead, the best we have gotten was this persistent lake effect snow… very light snow… all day long.
Jinx? Perhaps I have now tempted Mother Nature… I hope.
