“Contrary to popular belief, prosperity is an emotional state that has little to do with your wealth or the state of the economy. You can feel more prosperous in a one-room cottage than most wealthy people feel in a twenty-room mansion. Misers will hoard a lot of money and spendthrifts will spend whatever they have – you don’t have to do either to feel prosperous. You may have to give up your secure, high-paying corporate job, however – and grow spiritually in the process.” – Ernie J Zelinski
My first quarter close in many, many years where I have been on the beach instead of squandering my life wrestling a financial closing. Very fleetingly, I wonder how it went.
But much more, I wonder how long it will take to wash, bag and freeze the 20 pounds of blueberries we bought today. I wonder which beach we should go to tonight to watch the sunset. I wonder how big the waves are today on Lake Michigan. I wonder if I should wash and wax one of the cars tomorrow. I wonder how long I should work on the book tomorrow. I wonder what new book I should start to read tonight.
Life… is wondrous.
“You can’t be genuinely prosperous unless you have personal freedom. You will have attained true personal freedom in this world when you can get up in the morning when you want to get up; go to sleep when you want to go to sleep; and in the interval, work and play at the things you want to work and play at – all at your own pace.” – Ernie J Zelinski
