Noise
A concern in moving into an apartment after 30+ years in houses was the potential for noise. We do have some new noises. The delighted dog upstairs running in circles when her owner comes home each day, footsteps on the stairs nearby, occasional voices outside our open windows, door slams when the wind whips garage entry doors out of neighbors hands. But for the most part, it is quiet, noise is rare and transitory.
Back at our last semi-rural house in Iowa, we felt we lived a quiet life. We would go days before hearing our neighbors. Thinking back now though, we had… neighbor’s roosters crowing at all times of day and night… incessant barking dogs… freight trains less than a mile away… race track noise on the summer weekends… vehicles rumbling on the gravel road… heavy farm equipment… routine window rattling explosions from the ammunition plant a couple of miles away when they tested ordinance.
We actually have less noise now then during our quiet Iowa days.
