Sunsets
Last night we wandered over to the other side of the Grand River, the less crowded side. We were forewarned… proceed at your own risk.
But last night was a beautiful, calm day. Unlike yesterday, and unlike the scene below when we were here last fall. With strong waves, the fishing pier is a foolhardy place to venture.
On the other side of the river, the evening pilgrimage to the lighthouse for the sunset views was underway. Others flocked to the beach, for photos of the sunset directly behind the lighthouse. A few boats slipped down the river for a private view on the lake.
You never know what a Lake Michigan sunset will offer. We have joined the throng up and down the coast, drawn to the inland sea again and again. Even an average sunset is spectacular, bringing peace and tranquility. As the sun disappeared, the sky still lit in an orange, yellow and blue glow, we recalled other sunsets from days long past. Times on the western beaches of so many vacation spots. All those other sunset memories had a tinge of sadness in the moment… a vacation nearing the end.
This time is different, we are here to stay.
