Three Moves = One Fire

My college summer job in Cedar Rapids Iowa… moving furniture for a nationwide van lines. We had many sayings, partly in jest. One was… three moves equals one fire. I’ve seen most moves go nearly perfectly, but heard many a horror story. Even with a great move, it takes a toll on fine furniture. And if your furniture goes in and out of storage, it is doubly bad.

This move is starting to have the look of a fire… a very different fire… a cleansing fire. So much stuff, so gone. The house is emptying out well. Soon we will have just our furniture that will go into our 2 bedroom apartment. That, and my wife’s 50 plastic totes of yarn and crafts headed into our Michigan garage.
