MAPS
Remember these?
Before Google Maps, before Apple Maps, before Waze, before Garmin… this was the way we navigated. Oh, the tension in the car, with kids, my wife the navigator, me driving. And lost. My wife has many fantastic skills… map reading is not one of them.
There we were on one memorable trip, tons of traffic, we knew where we were, we knew where we wanted to go… but hopelessly lost as my wife contemplated the map. “Ok, if we take this blue road coming up, it will take us right there!”
“Ok, the road name is Blue?”
“No, just blue on the map, I don’t see a name”
Then I got from my trusty navigator, “You just missed it, you need to turn around”
And then, we missed it again. In frustration, I finally pulled over, she pointed out the blue road… my wife was trying to drive us down a river!
Reminded me of this song, and the worry free exploring to come as we move to Michigan. Give it a listen if you never have… let it bring you to a magical place.
I’m a man with a clear destination
I’m a man with a broad imagination
You fog the mind, you stir the soul
I can’t find, … no control
Catch the blue train
To places never been before
Look for me
