As I was leaving work tonight, we were talking about a few people in our plant that come in at 5am every morning to get the paint line started up for the day. On the positive side, they leave many days by 1pm.
Reminded me of a coworker / friend I knew back in Holland, Michigan who was also just out of college. He was a manufacturing management program trainee working on the plant floor. Almost every day he was able to leave by 3pm. As an avid windsurfer, he kept his board on top of his car and drove straight to the beach. A great assignment for him, windsurfing seven days a week.
One day, while driving to the beach, his board broke loose and flew off his car… up, up and away, then down right into the windshield of a vehicle following behind him. No serious injuries, but he was sued.
Moral of the story… always check anything you are transporting… and purchase excess liability insurance.
