Lake Michigan water temperature is now down to 36 degrees. Things are going to start getting interesting in the next few weeks as ice begins to form and build along the shore. The photos will appear from my daughter as it happens.
The coming of winter has my mind wandering back to our years living in Oregon. Comparing and contrasting… mostly contrasting. The Oregon coast came with plenty of winter storm excitement, but never the ice. The water temperature stayed constantly cold at between 50 and 55 degrees all year-long. The soon to arrive ice on Lake Michigan will eventually yield to 70 degree water in the summer, allowing for pleasant swimming that was never possible in Oregon.
We loved our time in Oregon, but Michigan will become our paradise.
