Lets try a list today. My 10 reasons to move to Western Michigan (not in any order, except for how they tumbled from my mind)
Beaches and dunes…. beautiful and varied, up and down the long coast
Sunsets over Lake Michigan… every night, my wife shows me beach cams and pictures, soon they will be ours
Cool summers, lake breezes… when we lived in Oregon we didn’t even have air-conditioning in our new house we built, not a lot of need on the coast in Michigan either
Low crime rate… the community where we will live, it is rare
Reasonable income tax rate… 4.25%
Low cost of living… and oh my what you get for it
Cherries, blueberries, apples, grapes… it goes on and on… “Michigan Fresh”
Michigan left turns… legal U turns
Thunderstorms coming in over the lake… yet another beautiful scene that unfolds often
Gales whipping up big waves… love those fall storms
Lighthouses… I have heard Michigan has more than any other state, they make great photo opportunities combined with sunsets, and waves, and sailboats, and surfers, and swimmers, and kite-boarders
Board walks and walkable down town shopping… unique restaurants, shops, art
Friendly people everywhere… has been our experience on visits so far
Road trips abound… everywhere we lived across the US, we have explored with a multitude of road trips, exploring the coast of western Michigan will be a delight… and the UP, and Canada
Salmon!!! … lake trout, perch… fresh fish abounds… having lived in the Pacific Northwest, I fell in love with fresh wild caught salmon… never knew salmon are plentiful in Lake Michigan
Four seasons… yes, 70 inches of snow in the winter, but I have always been a fan of having all four seasons.
Plenty of water… envisions the cheerleading chant, “We got water, yes we do!. We got water, how bout you?” (Then points to Arizona, or Nevada, or Southern California, or many other states)
Oops, way more than 10, but I was on a roll… and when I get there, I will discover many more.
